Import / Export of Immunizations in Cerner
There is an interface with the Oklahoma State Immunization Information System (OSIIS) to import and export records with Cerner.
IMPORTING PATIENT IMMUNIZATION RECORDS
- Log in to Cerner and open PowerChart.
- Select desired patient and open their chart.
- In Dark Blue Menu, Go to Nursing Workflow from either the Nurse View or Perioperative Summary

4. In the light grey column, find Immunizations. If there is a purple diamond indicating CommonWell data then click the Review button on the bottom right of the Immunization center screen. (note: if immunization is not available in the light grey column, click the tiny arrow drop down next to the 3 dashes on the far right to access the component pop-up box and click to add a checkmark next to Immunizations)
5. Once you see the import button in the bottom right of the immunization center screen, click it to get search pop-up box.

6. Screen 1 of Registry Import: If the patient has records in OSIIS, then the patient’s name and data birth will automatically populate with a match. Click the Load Records button to go to next screen.
7. Screen 2 of Registry Import: Immunizations populate on left column that shows the state registry data. Right column is blank and that is what will populate on the patient’s chart. Date can be moved to right column by clicking the top blue right arrow for all of the data or individual immunizations can be moved by clicking the blue right arrow next to each line.
8. Once immunizations are moved to right column, click the Submit button.

9. Immunizations will now show up in Nursing Workflow
10. If the patient does not have records in screen 1 of the Registry Import pop-up box, then a search box will indicate that there are no matches found and to refine your search. Unclick the date of birth box and then click the Refine button to see if the patient’s data can be found. Other names will pop up.

11. Other names will pop up. If there is truly no match to the name or date of birth, then simply click the cancel button.
EXPORTING PATIENT IMMUNIZATION RECORDS
- Exporting vaccines from OSH Cerner to OSIIS is automatic when a vaccine is documented as administered in the patient’s MAR.
- As with all vaccines, there are mandatory fields. Currently, it is the vaccine Lot Number, Manufacturer, Expiration date and site.
- Funding source is another field that has to be completed or the vaccine will not go to OSIIS correctly. It is not currently required.
- Click the dropdown arrow of the funding source box. Choose VXC50 Public if you are administering COVID vaccines. Choose PHC70 Private for all other vaccines.
- Once the vaccine is marked administered, it transmits to OSIIS.
