Charting Point of Care Lab (POCT) Results in Cerner
Point of Care Result Entry
- Within the patient’s chart, select the Point of Care Result Entry option from the top toolbar.
- This may be within the snake-eyes drop down on the far right, or you can customize the view by user and move it up in the available sequence.

2. The Point of Care window will open, and the test site will default into the first field if only one is built out. If multiple are available for the facility, select the appropriate test site from the drop down.

3. Select the necessary orderable to result from the drop down.

4. The Specimen type in the following field will default based on the orderable selected, but multiple options are available, select the appropriate one.

5. Enter the appropriate performed date and time into the respected field. Typing in a “T” into the date field will auto-populate the current date and time into the fields.

6. Type in your username into Performed ID field to document who’s resulting the order.

7. Finally, enter and search for the order physician in the next field.

8. Click into the gray box on the right-hand side to get the result entry field to appear.

9. Enter in the point of care lab result into the field and click Verify to complete the documentation. (Ensure that you select Verify rather than Perform after all results have been entered. If you select Perform, the results will not post to the patient's chart and you will need to load the accession in Accession Result Entry (AccessionResultEntry.exe) to verify the results so that they post.)

10. Once Verify is selected, the window keeps the orderable initially selected and an additional result can be added once the Performed date/time and ID is documented.

11. The verified result will appear in Results Review.
