Cerner AppBar Initial Set-up
Using the AppBar
- The Cerner AppBar (appbar.exe) is a desktop toolbar that each user can customize. The user can add a button to the AppBar for any available Cerner Millennium application for that user's position.
- Users launch applications from the AppBar, allowing them to log on to the Cerner system only once.
Step by step Set up Instructions
- Open the Cerner Production shortcut on your desktop or a [link] in your browser (use Google Chrome).
- Enter your Cerner login credentials.

- You will enter the Citrix Storefront. From here, open the ‘AppBar’

- When you open AppBar for the first time, it will open with the default settings. This will place it on the top of your screen.
- The first thing one should do is customize their view of AppBar.

The easiest way to customize the view and the accessible applications is to left click on the
in the top left corner of your screen and then select Customize from the dropdown menu.
- Select these options
- The Always on Top button will have been selected by default; having this box selected will place the AppBar in front of all other open windows on your desktop at all times. This is not recommended as it may be in the way of performing other actions.
- Checking the Float option will allow the AppBar to be adjusted and moved freely about the desktop rather than being stationary at the top of your screen.
- Checking the Large Buttons option will increase the size of the icons that you have placed in your AppBar, making them easier to view and select.
- Click the buttons tab.

- The next step to customizing your AppBar is to select the applications that will appear on it. You do this by clicking on the Buttons tab in the Customize window.
- The applications shown will be in alphabetical order by application.

Put a Check next to the applicable app (see Department AppBar Applications List) then click the OK button.
Using the AppBar

After clicking the OK button, you will notice that the AppBar will separate from the top of the screen into a smaller window that has the icons of the applications you previously selected.

- Now you can click and drag your AppBar to your desired location
- Other windows will now be placed on top of the AppBar when selected
- Clicking on one of the icons will immediately launch the application without needing to login.

While using and closing other tools the AppBar remains open for a quicker and easier transition between multiple tools.
- If you ever lose track of your AppBar look to your desktop toolbar and select the A icon and it will come to the front of your screen.
